In the current collection of historic pottery at Shiprock Santa Fe there are representative examples from a majority of the Pueblos including Zuni, Hopi, San Ildefonso, Santa Clara, Santa Domingo, Zia, Acoma, and Cochiti. Whether these pieces were made for sale at a Trading Post, or for use at the Pueblo, their forms and painted designs are the same. Each Pueblo utilized locally sourced natural clay and paint making them easily distinguishable. Historic Pueblo Pottery is one of the highest art forms to come from these cultures.
