SHIPROCK SANTA FE IS PLEASED TO INVITE YOU
TO AN EXHIBITION OF NEW WORK BY
FERAL AT HEART
OPENING RECEPTION: THURSDAY, JULY 11, 5-7 PM
INSTALLED JULY 1-31, 2013
Coral has been set in Navajo silver jewelry since the early parts of the 20th century. Red coral has special significance in most Native American cultures, but throughout New Mexico and Arizona, coral held the highest value and esteem and was thought to hold great restorative powers. The earliest examples of coral were traded among the Spanish and other Europeans. Coral use as adornment in Pueblo and Navajo jewelry pre-dates use in silver pieces and is often seen on necklaces and tab earrings.
We have some incredible coral pieces in the gallery that will be available for sale next week! The coral ranges from light pink to deep red and they’re all in contemporary silver settings made by Navajo and Pueblo artists.
Inquire today if you’d like to come in and try one on!
